Texas Haunters Convention July 18-19th Irving Convention Center in Las Colinas, Texas !!! A convention for haunters, special Fx props and make up work, Haunted house attractions, and people who are strange and unusual! So many vendors selling hand made horror/halloween/spooky things.

Whats up Guys Gals ghouls and pals
We have gone for the last 3 years to do media here. We have never been let down before and to be honest with you we are always in love and have such a good time at this convention. The haunt community like any other community has its bad apples but for the most part they are all so chill and so passionate. If you get to talking to the vendors and really ask them about their craft and how much they love what they do and get to know them ... they will literally talk to you all day if you want about it. It is so pleasant to see so many people love their craft. Horror community in general is like that though. It is hard to get into the community because lets face it most of us are already battling people thinking we are wierd and devil worshippers or we need to be checked out...which some of that may be true for alot of people and reasons but we are all chill if you are. We just love the macabre guys deal with it. Anyways, back to the con. this convention has always had the best vendors * cough* the Knitty Gritty Nerd * cough*. They have some very unique pieces they are selling and i am always excited to hear people singing over on the Scaryoke machine. We liked singing with them. This convention is not for the faint of heart or the queezy tummy because SFX SFX SFX everywhere. You will see gross things, bloody things, dead things, boney things, and things that crept out of your nightmares into to real life.You will meet amazing haunt owners and actors, amazing make up artists and special fx make up artists, prop makers and practical special fx builders, You will see ooozing things and the smells are not always pleasant....alot of fake blood and latex and we all know latex kinda smells like a fish market sometimes.
Here is the contravery this year.... they let someone bring AI into a panel and teach how he uses it for his haunt. People were outraged about it. They were boycotting and banning the convention for doing so. This brought the attendance down alot this year.
Here is our take on it. I do not like Ai it is destroying our earth and as an artist it is taking away the jobs we could be doing because its cheap and easy....it looks like shite btw...but anyways, the problem with everyone not going is most of those people who were like noooooo....still attend Anime Matsuri where their owners have allegaitions( sa and Assult on minors ) severe ones against them for SOOOO many years and yet they go but,....man ai really sucks. Ya'll trippin on that. They both suck and if you are going to not attend because of AI please stop attending conventions that have bad reps like Anime Matsuri and almost any con that is a literal cash grab like all CON live Conventions yes that includes Anime Dallas guys. When you skip cons that the worst thing they did was let a person teach how he uses AI ( they aren't personally using it themselves ) in their haunt, you are shitting on the people you are trying to defend. The artists and creators that work hard to make all this stuff and sell it at conventions, who paid ten times more than you did for your ticket to even vend there, are losing all that money because you decided to fuck them over. That to me doesn't make sense. I went and supported all my fellow artists and vendors and bought some stuff and learned so much from them. I didn't support the one panel that they had poor judgement on. I do hope they learned from this and decide not to do that again next year.
Anyways, despite that...we loved it again. We saw some friends and some cooll cosplays, cool props and make up work, met some coo haunters and haunt owners, and we just really had such a chill weekend. So honestly thank you Texas Haunters for putting on a great show this year.
Overall 7/10 this year because of the contravery
However for the vendors,cosplayers,prop makers, haunters, and haunts....10/10 like always !!
